Gay Lapointe is a retired lifestyle/fitness coach with a long-time passion for the outdoors and all the many things that nature and the water have to offer. She was introduced to offshore fishing at a young age by her grandfather, who was a sport-fishing captain, and her father, who was best known as “Trout Man.” Today, her passion is fishing with her husband, sons and pup. They explore the inshore and nearshore waters of eastern North Carolina, including Bogue Sound, Morehead City, and the Pamlico and Neuse Rivers, which offer incredible fishing for redfish, flounder, speckled trout and striped bass. In the fall, the action turns to Cape Lookout for cobia, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel and false albacore.
“I’m addicted to fishing and I admit it,” she says. “We fish year-round and you’ll find me on the water three or four days a week. Fishing isn’t just a fun way to pass the time on the Crystal Coast, it’s a tradition.”
“Due to extreme arthritis, especially in my knuckle joints, and eight melanoma surgeries, Fish Monkey gloves have been a lifesaver for me in more ways than one. They cushion the joints in my hands and provide great sun protection. I literally can’t fish without them!”
